After a full (very, very full) day at the State Fair on August 17, we can state unequivically that it was a great success. Families visited our booth to play games, talk about language learning, take the "Are you smarter than a language teacher" quiz and spin the wheel for Discover Languages merchandise. 2007 National Language Teacher of the Year and FLAGS Board Member Christine Lanphere was appointed to the Curriculum and Supplementary Materials Commission. Her four-year-term will begin in January 2008. She will be one of several commissioners who review and approve standards, frameworks, and textbook adoptions for all curriculum areas in the state of California. As such she will have direct influence over the quality of education for every one of California's students. Congratulations, Christine!
